Medicare tools

Three tools that answer a real question

These are the questions that actually decide which plan fits, not which brochure looks best. Pick one and start.

Find your Medicare enrollment window

Enter your date of birth and we'll map out your Initial Enrollment Period, the month to apply, and when coverage could start.

Next year's plan changes start January 1

Advantage and drug plans in Palm Beach County can change networks, drug lists and costs each year. You can act on those changes during Annual Enrollment, October 15 through December 7.

What to check this fall

Spend summers somewhere else?

Many Advantage plans pay for routine care only near home, and most can drop you after six months away. Share your travel calendar with us before you choose a plan.

Coverage

Coverage we compare for Palm Beach County residents

We aren't tied to any one insurer. For each plan we can offer, you'll see what it leaves out and what it would cost you over a full year.

Part C

Medicare Advantage

One card handles hospital stays, doctor visits and, on most plans, prescriptions. Many plans add dental, vision or hearing benefits too. What you trade for that is a network. We confirm your doctors and the hospital you'd go to take the plan before we bring it up.

  • Network checked for your doctors
  • Yearly out-of-pocket limit shown up front

Medicare Supplement

  • Any Medicare doctor, in any state
  • Past rate increases checked, too
Medigap

Medicare Supplement

A Supplement has no network. You can use any doctor or hospital in the U.S. that takes Medicare, so a winter in Delray Beach and a summer in New Jersey look the same to your coverage. A lot of people in the county stay on Original Medicare for that reason. We price Plan G and Plan N next to each other.

Prescription Drug Plans

  • A full year of drug costs, totaled
  • Mail order and retail compared
Part D

Prescription Drug Plans

Give us your medicine list and the pharmacy you use. We price every drug plan we represent for all twelve months and show where each drug costs the least, at the store or by mail.

Already on Medicare?

Bring the Annual Notice of Change your plan sent in September. We go through it with you, check next year's network and drug list, and say so plainly if keeping your plan is the better choice.

Why choose us

Licensed agents who know this county's plans.

Palm Beach Senior Insurance is licensed and independent. You talk with a licensed agent who tells you why each plan is on your list.

  • Licensed agents only

A licensed insurance agent takes your call from start to finish. Medicare and final expense coverage are all we work on.

  • Your doctors come first

Before any plan comes up, we look up the doctors you see and price the drugs you take.

  • Free to you

Our pay comes from the carriers we represent, and your premium matches what you'd pay buying direct.

  • We know the hospital map

Baptist Health, HCA Florida, Tenet's Palm Beach Health Network and Jupiter Medical Center sign separate plan contracts. We check which ones each plan includes.

  • One page, real totals

Your comparison fits on a single page with a full-year cost for each plan, written in everyday words.

  • A fresh look every fall

When next year's plan details come out, we rerun your numbers. If nothing beats what you have, we tell you that.

We do not offer every plan available in your area. Please contact Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, or your local State Health Insurance Program (SHIP) to get information on all of your options.

The process

How a free plan review goes

There are four steps. Stop whenever you like.

Get started
  1. Tell us about you

Call or fill out the form. We'll ask which doctors you see, what you take, what you'd like to spend, and whether you live somewhere else part of the year.

  2. See the comparison

We price the plans we represent for your ZIP code and lay them out on one page, each with its full-year cost.

  3. Enroll if you like one

If a plan fits, we fill out the application with you by phone and confirm your start date. If none fits, nothing changes and you owe nothing.

  4. Check in each fall

Plans reset every January 1. We look again each fall and suggest a change only when it saves money or fixes a problem.

Service area

Medicare help across Palm Beach County

Hospitals here belong to several different systems. Tenet's group includes St. Mary's, Good Samaritan, Palm Beach Gardens, Delray and West Boca. HCA Florida has JFK and Palms West. Baptist Health has Bethesda Hospital East and Boca Raton Regional. Jupiter Medical Center and Wellington Regional sit outside all three. An Advantage plan can include one system and not another, and that can change at renewal, so we check your doctors on each plan we represent first.

We help by phone in West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach, Lake Worth Beach, Wellington, Royal Palm Beach, Greenacres and the rest of the county. Here only from November to April? Say so early. It can decide whether Medigap or an Advantage plan makes more sense.

FAQ

Questions from Palm Beach County callers

Something else on your mind? Call 561-000-0000 or see the longer Medicare FAQ.

I just moved to Palm Beach County. Do I need a new Medicare plan?

If you have Original Medicare and a Medigap policy, the move doesn't force a change, since both work anywhere in the country. If you have a Medicare Advantage or Part D plan from your old state, a permanent move out of its service area opens a Special Enrollment Period, and you'll pick a plan that serves your new ZIP code.

What does a plan review cost?

Nothing. Palm Beach Senior Insurance is paid by the insurance carriers we represent. Your premium for a given plan is the same whether you enroll with us, on Medicare.gov or with the carrier.

I live here in winter and up north in summer. Which plan type works?

Tell us where you spend each part of the year. A Medigap policy pays the same way with any doctor who takes Medicare, in either state. Many Advantage plans cover only emergency and urgent care away from home, and most must end your coverage if you stay outside their service area for more than six months. Our Advantage vs. Medigap guide walks through it.

Can you tell me which plans include my hospital?

Yes. Hospital systems here contract with plans separately, so a plan might include Jupiter Medical Center and leave out an HCA Florida or Baptist Health hospital, or the other way around. We look up your doctors and your preferred hospital in each plan's current directory, then price your prescriptions.

Do I have to come to an office?

No. Everything happens over the phone. Use the short form or call, and you'll hear back from a licensed agent on a weekday during business hours.

Where can I get free, unbiased Medicare counseling?

SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders), Florida's free Medicare counseling program, answers questions at no charge and doesn't sell plans. Call 1-800-963-5337. In Palm Beach County, the Area Agency on Aging's helpline at (866) 684-5885 can set up a SHINE appointment. We're happy to talk with you before or after you meet with SHINE.
